About
George Eleftherakis is Senior Lecturer and Research Director of the Computer Science department at CITY College Thessaloniki, which is an International Faculty of the University of Sheffield. He is also the Leader of the Information and Communication Technologies Research Track of the South Eastern European Research Centre (SEERC). He holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Ioannina, Greece and, an MSc and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Sheffield, UK. He is the head of the Intelligence, Modelling & Computation research group at CITY. His main research work is in the area of formal methods, biologically inspired computing and information security. He continuously has an interest the last 14 years for Java programming and Internet applications and he has dealt with network programming and web applications using Java, Ruby on Rails and other technologies since 1996. He is the founder and owner of Thessaloniki’s Java User Group. He gave more than 15 invited talks to Universities, conferences and companies around the world. He has published more than 60 papers in International Conferences and Journals and edited 6 books. He is teaching Java Programming courses in BSc and MSc levels for more than 12 years. He is a member of BCS, ACM (Sponsoring an ACM student chapter) and the Greek Computer Society, and he organised eight (8) scientific conferences and nine International Student conferences.
